She came into my gallery and workshop and looked around. She was amazed and coulld not believe the custom pop art for portraits and other goodies that filled the studio. Not tech savy at all she asked is I could go to her house on my way home pick up the picture and scan it at my studio so I could create a pop art masterpiece.
She seemed easy enough to deal with. Maybe a ted eccentric but im used to people like that, meet them all the time in my line of work.
She decides the realism abstract painting style of the picture of her children, grand children and their pets. Tried to sell her on doing a pet portrait but thats another story. Our abstract realism style combines both digital and oil paint. Sort of new technology with an old medium, which created a masterpiece. It was a nice bill as there were 14 people in the picture and 4 pets.
She was the ideal customer. She gave me her 50 percent deposit a few days after the scan, easy enough I thought. Usually customers who do kids portraits are the easiest. But who was i to judge.
My team of talented artist came up with a masterpiece. The custom portrait from photo was one of the best we had ever done. Everybody who we showed it to though the oil painting was amazing.
We scheduled a meeting at my office. She came in looked at it and thought all the people looked great but the pet images were off. I have a passion for pets and any pet portraits from photos we do are some of our best work. Oscar Sun is known in our company as one of the best in capturing pet portraits so I was surprised with her comment.
She had no complaints about her beloved grandchildren and kids but made me retouch the 3 dog and cat 4 times.
What strated as breezes ended up us a unique custom pop art. Unique pop art for what i went through to create it !!!!!!!!
A chill filled the air as I ventured out on that cool Autumn night. It was routine, another weekend another blind date. Little did I know down custom pop art would be a source of aggrevation. Ok back to the story.
She sounded nice on the phone, seemed smart and was quite cheerful.
Arriving 10 minutes early I sat ordered a glass of red wine and waited for her to arrive. To my excitement she arrived and was actually cute. Dark hair, nice eyes, cute little body… Hm please dont let the other shoe drop.
We also had things in common. She owned a business, as did I, she had a dog as did I and she worked out, a passion of mine as well. I told her I did pop art portraits of dogs from photos she asked if i would do one of her dog. It was set not only would I see her again on a second date but I would get business out of this. Always the capitalist !!!
We said our goodbyes and made plans to see each other during the week.
Like I love sick puppy Im counting the day until I can call her. Tuesday arrives, I call, she doues not call back. After 2 messages she calls and says she is sick and we wil need to reschedule. I call the week after and never hear back.
Bieng the neurotic I am after a month of emailing her 10 times she responds telling me she is in the hospital. After emailing her another few times over the coarse of a month she finally responds that she had a masive tumor in her stomach and just got the biopsy the day before confirming is was non cancerous.
She really appreciated my concern over the few month and told me she wanted to meet up. We agreed to hook up at the dog run.
She looked good actually, I brought my camera and told here I would create a pop art portrait of her dog for her at no charge. She was thrilled and accepted.
After a few cancellations on her part we never hooked up again. She never picked up her dog painting which i thought was amazing. I informed her that I wanted to make copies of her pet portrait and add a caption to it. In an email she stated no problem.
After 2 years of no chatting I email her just to see how she is doing. I get a reply back ” Who told you it was ok to make copies of my dog portrait” I saw him in A store window and am very upset ” My lawyers will be contacting you if you dont tell me how many you sold ”
After all my concern over her situation, she turns out to be a real nutbarr, I had not sold any of the prints of her dog but was freaked about the whole thing.
Morale of ther story dont contact old blind dates and get everything in writing !!!
Everybody wants a deal. I dont care how rich you are deals are like sport. When it comes to
pop artthe same goes. Getting a good deal makes people feel good, or at least the person who saves the money. Creating
portraits from photos is the same thing. People love the styles but rarely want to spend to dollar. Don’t get me wrong some people will spend because they perceive that more expensive means better. True in some cases but not all.
At Poppizzaz we are always looking for different substrates that are unique and marketable. We introduced the vinyl because it was inexpensive and can be sold at a price that would be afforedable to most. Colours are still vibrant as we use a glossy art vinyl that would brighten any room with a Poppizzaz custom pop art from a photo.
The vinyl can also even look good on your refrigerator. Any flat surface would work, even the floor.
The vinyl is easiest to work with when the size is 30″ 30″ inches and less. Anything bigger still works but we would need to send it to you in 2 pieces for easiest application. Just slowly peel off one side and with pressure smooth over when you are applying on the surface until you reach the bottom of the vinyl. Another way is to peel the backing off the sticker and then slowly apply it to the surface and flatten so no bubbles appear.
If you have any questons we would love to chat with you.

It has been a while since my last post. I have been working on a project that will enable my audience to purchase more affordable custom pop art. Instead of only offering printed are on canvas I have found suppliers of frames and paper to offer a economical solution to those who want to save some money and still receive a thing of beauty.
The ecocno-thin line will be offered in sizes 11-14, 12-16, 16-20 inches. It will include satin paper and thin plastic black molded frame with plexie sheet. The unit will come assembled and ready to hang. The same bells and whistles like in the canvas series will be included when making your selection. Portraits from photos done is pop art can now be enjoyed by just about anybody who is willing to shell out a couple of hundred bucks to put a smile on someones face.
The smaller versions as well are easier to place in a home or office. The lower price makes it more afforedable as a unique present for a loved one, friend or even office gift.
Finding the proper materials was a project in itself. actually the paper and production was the easy part, finding A) The right size frames B) Frames that came with plexi glass as apposed to glass C) The proper thickness, was quite a challenge. I had no idea that finding frames would be such a tedious process. But I conquered and happy that the line will be rolled out within a week or so.
Although the title from this entry seems a little harsh, it’s really just to make a point. Unless you were involved with creating custom pop art portraits from photos you would not really know that not all images are created equally- Some are better then others.
At the studio we constanly receive images taken with an old and outdated camera. The camera you purchased 5-10 years ago does not create the ame resuts as the one you bought 1-3 years ago. Without getting technical your camera has a mega pixel marking on it somewhere. Anything less the 7.5 megal pixels will not be able to create the best results. If you have a 5 megal pixel camera you can set it to the highest resolution and take a picture but still results will vary. Most digital cameras manufactured today have at least 10.0 mega Pixels and will create fantastic custom pop art and portraits from photos results no matter what the setting is. Obviously, a higher setting will have more mega pixels so it best to take photos that you want turned into custom pop art on the highest setting. Anything less the 180 dpi and less then 2000-3000 in dimensions and less then 180 DPI is a challenge to work with.
To find out information about your digital picture right click the image and a box will appear. At the bottom of the box it will show properties. Click properties and ontop click details. You will see both the dimension and DPI.
A custom oil panting portrait can be done in lower Dimension and DPI but like mentioned before creating a digital materpiece will be a challenge.
A little while back a customer sent a 96 dpi pic which was very low resolution. He loved the picture of his family and only wanted to use that particular image- I pleaded with him and explained he would not get a good result. After a lengthy conversation on this matter I gave in and created the image in out Phsychedelica style he wanted. Not terrible as you can see but not our best.
If you need any technical information we always are here to answer your custom pop art questions.

Snow is melting, days are getting longer and the smell of melting snow and doggy doo doo fills the air. There is something about the spring that gets my creative juices going. Creating
pet portraits or
oil painting portraits is one way that soothes the hunger of creating pop art that my customers love.
Pop pizzaz is currently working on a more economic line of pop art. Currently we only offer our custom portraits on canvas, either in giclee style or in oils. After experimenting and finding the right supplies Poppizzaz will offer an alternative and less expensive glosse paper format which will include a choice of frames in a few colors.
Lets face it $300.00-$400.00 may be a little to expensive for people to spend on custom pop art. Portraits on paper format will be cost 30-40 % less then canvas and become marketable to a wider spectrum of people. The glosse paper really brings out the vivid colors in each portait for photos we do. We still love our canvas style and recommend it to most people but paper is a superb alternative.
Poppizzaz is still working hard to create other styles that are different, pop, fun and marketable. If you read this and have an idea we would love to hear from you. Brainstorming can be an enlightening experience so don’t be shy and contact us.

Custom portrait of 2 hockey legends
While watching the Canada triumph over the U.S.A in the gold medal hockey game it reminded me of a customer who wanted to create an
oil painting portrait of two of the best defenceman who ever played the game. Bobby Orr and Raymond Borque played in different eras but the customer wanted them both in the oil
painting portait as if they were playing side bt side. Up for the challenge I searched for images that would work well in this
custom portait. It was for his uncle 60th birthday and he wanted to suprise him with a unique present. I love what i do but it took quite a while to find pictures and images that would create a oil painting portrait that would work. After a week we came up with something and my customer game me the go ahead to start the process. Like in all my portaits for photos work I send a few different backround choices so the customer can see different versions of how the final work can look. The customer chose a solid color background as wanted the legends to be a the focal point in the oil painting portrait.
After two weeks the painting was done. The client who lives in Boston received it soon after and was taken back by how real and authentic the image looked. His uncle lo
ved the present and hung it up it his family room ontop of the fireplace
Creating portraits from photos is what poppizzaz.com. Trying to find new styles to add onto the collection, dealing with artists and customers takes most of my time. I derive a sense of accomplishment when we create a oil painting portrait or any other style that the customers loves.
The other side of the business which takes up tons of time is to be found online. Countless hours of writing articles trying to understand googles page ranking and what to do to get to the first page is perplexing to say the least. Until you have your own web site you will never know what it entails. Which brings me to the “Woman who knew everything”
Sitting in my gallery one day I receive a phone call from a woman who strated off by saying she loved my custom pop art art she saw online but that my website was totally lacking focus, creativity and google search friendliness. Since we lived in the same city we decided to meet. Within 10 minutes of sitting down she started to drill me “oh you are far, far, far away from being found on google….”
She gave me some tips which seemed reasonable but nothing that really blew me away. I listened to her for 30 minutes and then asked her some of the work she had done. She informed me she was a Addword credited specialist. Google by the way generates 90 perecent of their revenue from adwords, but it has proven to be more effective with global brands . She mentioned she was as well starting who own company ” Yes, ive been working on my own website for 3 months now- its hard work but i love it ”
Since she brought her laptop she went to her site. She only had the logo of her site on the page, that was all. I was amazed, here I was sitting with a googleiknoweverythingologist and she was ok trashing my site but yet after 3 months she had only developed some crazy logo for her site !!!.
Needless to say I was not impressed and left soon afterward to get back to my pop art gallery instead of listening to the woman who knew everything !!
